Through various grants, VHSBC offers three no-fee programs. These include:
CHEER
Funded by a grant from the Bergen County Division of Senior Services, Cheer provides supportive services for frail, isolated seniors. It offers assistance with shopping, errands, laundry and socialization.
Englewood Senior Care
Funded through the generosity of the Community Chest of Englewood, this program is available to seniors or disabled residents of Englewood, EnglewoodCliffs and Tenafly. It offers short term home care for acute, crisis type cases where no funding or support is yet in place for much needed personal care .
Certified aides provide personal care such as bathing and transfers. They also prepare meals, do light housekeeping, give medication reminders and maintain a safe environment for the client.
Professional staff provide plan of care and links to community resources for long-term support.
PEER
A federal matching grant through the Bergen County Department of Human Services, this program also offers personal care at home to those who meet the financial qualifications. It is administered through Bergen NJ EASE which makes referrals directly to Visiting Homemakers on behalf of its clients. To inquire about qualifying, please contact Bergen NJ Ease at (877)222-3737 or (201)336-7400 or or go to the Bergen County web site at www.co.bergen.nj.us/bcdhs/divisions/senior.htm and follow info to NJ Ease.
